Expedition Dormancy is a field trip of one day to study the concept of dormancy of nature and within. Dormancy is a state in which various species endure difficult weather conditions and life threats. Some, like the pyrohytes seeds – heat-triggered seeds that can only break from dormancy and germinate when a fire melts the layer of resin that covers their cone.
In this expedition we slow down and ask the forest to teach us and open a work book in between its leaves, branches and traces. So we learn about what it means to be alive, what it means to be death, and meditate if it is at all possible to differentiate one from the other.
This research started within the frame of activities of play.research.lab and will continue to develop within the program of Practices and Politics of Friendship in Trust Collective residencies in Portugal 2026.
