I’m Here I’m Not

A virtual journey in the heart of the forest, where presence and absence intertwine, revealing the unseen threads that connect us beyond time and space.

Step into a ritual of presence, where technology becomes an instrument of connection rather than distraction. I’m Here I’m Not invites you to hack the presence of your phone, to let it be inhabited by energies, memories, and invisible forces. In the stillness of the woods, you will listen, sense, and perceive—awakening to the reality that presence is more than just the body, that absence is never truly empty, and that the boundaries between the material and the immaterial are far more fluid than we believe. Use this intimate, private device—so often a thief of your time and attention—in an affective and magical way and let it be inhabited by energies! Don’t miss the chance to be reminded that the spiritual is not always religious, the technological is not always inhuman, and poetry often hides right in front of you.

I’m Here, I’m Not is a poetic and immersive experience that invites you to navigate the space between presence and absence, material and immaterial, seen and unseen. Through the mediation of objects, technology, and the natural world, we will uncover the hidden layers of connection that extend beyond the physical realm, reminding us that presence is not only what we see but also what we feel, remember, and imagine.

Initiated and researched during the COVID-19 era, this project emerged from a desire to study hybrid presence, the liminal state of being both present and absent at once—to explore the affective and human material that can be shared through mediation. In this ritual of presence, nature and technology intertwine, the personal meets the collective, and the past lingers within the present.

This in-between journey asks: Can connection transcend time and space? What does it truly mean to be here? And can absence, too, hold its own presence?
